Production Die Assistant
Location: Etobicoke, ON
Pay: Starting at $23.00 per hour
Monday to Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm
This role supports the Production Supervisor and Die Coordinator in preparing the production area and machinery for daily operations. The successful candidate will assist with organizing, quality-checking, and maintaining print plates and steel rule dies (SRD), ensuring all materials are ready and available for efficient production. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and familiar with a manufacturing or production environment.
Key Responsibilities – Prepress / Tooling Support
Inspect, prepare, maintain, and organize print plates and steel rule dies to ensure production readiness and quality.
Review job dockets and design drawings to confirm specifications and customer requirements.
Coordinate prepress activities and tooling delivery with scheduling, design, processing, and production teams to meet machine schedules.
Support the press floor by supplying plates and SRD, performing adjustments and minor repairs, and providing technical guidance to improve efficiency and quality.
Assist machine operators in resolving tooling and print-related issues.
Create and verify press types, including part numbers, class stamps, recycle symbols, and panel measurements.
Maintain accurate tooling records and inventory, report inactive tooling, and support purchasing and production planning.
Ensure all plates and SRD are properly cleaned, stored, and safely organized.
Support Digital Press and CAD operations as required and provide coverage during absences.
Train team members as needed and support compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
Perform additional prepress and production support duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience in the corrugated industry is preferred.
Experience operating a CAD table, plate mounting, and plate making is considered an asset.
Experience using AutoCAD and/or Illustrator is considered an asset.
Fluent in English, with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Basic math skills and the ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
Proficient with computers, including MS Office (Word and Excel).
Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Able to interpret and follow instructions outlined on Factory Tickets.
Able to communicate accurate and timely information to the Supervisor.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather information and draw sound conclusions.
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing situations.
